Overview
Apply biology and bioinformatics expertise to AI training and benchmarking through real-world scientific workflows and reasoning.
Responsibilities
- Create, assess and critique biology, bioinformatics and computational-biology workflows for AI benchmarks.
- Advise on analysis pipelines for genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and other biological data.
- Check and improve pipeline parameters, tool settings and statistical methods for accuracy and reproducibility.
- Analyse biological datasets, including NGS, RNA-seq, single-cell data, variant calling and protein structure, and recommend next steps.
- Help develop and validate biology-related AI models and tools.
- Explain complex science in writing and speech to technical and non-technical collaborators.
- Document results, methods and good practice for knowledge transfer across the customer's team.
Requirements
- A PhD in biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics or a closely related STEM discipline, or equivalent industry/research experience.
- Professional spoken and written English at C1 level or higher.
- Deep knowledge in at least one welcomed area, with hands-on work on real biological data: genomics and NGS analysis; transcriptomics and single-cell analysis; proteomics and structural biology; molecular and cell biology; systems biology and biological-network analysis; drug discovery and computational pharmacology; biostatistics and machine learning in biology.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for scientific analysis, plus standard subfield tools such as BLAST, samtools, GATK, Bioconductor or Biopython.
- Strong statistical, quantitative and analytical reasoning.
- Outstanding written and spoken communication, with clear technical explanations and records.
- Evidence of rigorous problem-solving in complex biological research.
Preferred
- Experience with reproducible workflows using Nextflow or Snakemake, and Linux/command-line work.
- Experience with AI/ML-assisted biology workflows or benchmarking.
- Peer-reviewed publications, patents or open-source bioinformatics contributions.
