Overview
Apply senior mechanical-design and analysis experience from top-tier automotive or aerospace engineering to datasets used to train and evaluate advanced AI models.
Turn physical-engineering challenges in conceptual 3D parametric CAD, CAE simulation (FEA/CFD), DFM/DFA and physical testing into structured problems, define physical grading criteria and investigate AI success and failure.
Responsibilities
- Translate real engineering challenges into test scenarios with specified inputs, requirements, kinematic/geometric constraints and verified reference solutions.
- Write clear scoring rubrics and programmatic validation rules that software engineers can automate, covering checks such as stress concentrations, mesh convergence, boundary conditions, tolerance stacks and GD&T compliance.
- Analyse advanced AI agents' behaviour and diagnose their failure modes.
- Design and run automated quality checks alongside human-expert review to protect dataset quality.
- Recruit and coordinate internal and external engineering contributors to build and expand training/evaluation datasets.
Requirements
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Automotive Engineering, or a closely related physical discipline.
- At least 15 years delivering hardware from concept through production in top-tier automotive, aerospace or advanced precision-engineering settings.
- Deep end-to-end mechanical-product expertise: 3D parametric CAD, DFM/DFA, GD&T, FEA/CFD, prototype testing and FMEA failure analysis.
- Hands-on use of standard CAD/CAE software, such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, ANSYS, Altair HyperWorks or Abaqus.
- Proven ability to turn open-ended mechanical workflows into structured, verifiable problems with clear physical ground-truth criteria.
- Experience leading, mentoring or coordinating distributed engineers and technical contributors.
- Strong spoken and written English.
Preferred
- No separate preferred qualifications are stated.
Engagement and pay
- Pay is not stated.
- Remote, full-time commitment of 40 hours per week under a contract engagement.
- Expected contract start is October 20-23, as written in the source; the source does not specify a year in that date line.
- Eight-week engagement, with a possible extension.
Eligibility
- Remote. Country eligibility is not stated; worldwide eligibility is not assumed.
