Overview
Use bioinformatics and computational-biology workflows to train and benchmark AI systems with rigorous real-world scientific input.
Responsibilities
- Create, assess and critique bioinformatics and computational-biology workflows for AI benchmarks.
- Advise on genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic analysis pipelines.
- Check and improve pipeline parameters, tool settings and statistical methods for accurate, reproducible results.
- Analyse biological datasets such as NGS, RNA-seq, variant calling and protein structure, then recommend actions.
- Help develop and validate biology-related AI models and tools through domain expertise.
- Explain difficult science clearly in writing and speech to technical and non-technical collaborators.
- Record findings, methods and good practice for knowledge transfer across the customer's team.
Requirements
- A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics or a closely related discipline, or equivalent industry/research experience.
- Professional written and spoken English at C1 level or higher.
- Hands-on analysis of biological data such as NGS, RNA-seq or variants.
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for scientific analysis, plus standard bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, samtools, GATK, Bioconductor or Biopython.
- Experience with reproducible workflows in Nextflow or Snakemake, and comfort using Linux/command-line environments.
- Strong statistical, quantitative and analytical reasoning.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication with clear technical records and explanations.
- Evidence of rigorous problem-solving in complex biological domains.
Preferred
- Experience with AI/ML-assisted biology workflows or benchmarking.
- Peer-reviewed papers, patents or open-source bioinformatics contributions.
- Background in single-cell analysis, structural biology, proteomics or drug discovery.
